Aconite, Belladonna and Chamomilla are a traditional combination of homeopathic remedies ‘ABC’ used for babies and children up to the age of 12 years, when they are unwell and it is difficult to decide which remedy they need. This is a good all-purpose remedy combo to have on hand for children.

ABC can provide symptomatic relief of minor fevers and minor earaches in children up to 12 years and particularly for symptoms associated with teething in infants or toddlers.

    Aconite – fevers where child is hot, dry and usually thirsty. Symptoms that come on suddenly, especially in the middle of the night such as ear pain or croup, which may result from being in a cold wind or from a fright/shock. Patient may be restless and anxious. Always seek medical assistance for fever in a baby under six months old.

    Belladonna – acute illnesses where the child radiates heat, often with hot head and cold feet. Barking cough, hot, red, painful ears, teething with intolerance of noise and being jarred. Child may be hyper or lethargic. Usually no thirst. Symptoms often come on late afternoon.

    Chamomilla – most striking symptom is that the patient will be very irritable and usually won’t know what they want. Child is often better for being carried! Useful for teething and any other ailments when it fits this picture.

  • When baby is showing signs of pain or discomfort, add two drops in a 500ml glass bottle of water, bang (succuss) the bottle against your palm to activate and medicate the water.

    Dose every 15-20 minutes for the first hour or so, or while symptoms persist. Babies may need the water dabbed onto their mouth if they are unable to take a sip.

    Once symptoms stop, cease taking.
